タグマネージャーとは?GTMとYTMの違い・導入すべき理由をわかりやすく解説

Yahoo! JAPAN Tag Manager (YTM), a service used in Japan, ended on June 30, 2024. The current task is not choosing between two active services. It is identifying remaining code and required measurement, then maintaining them through a supported implementation.

Even an apparently completed migration can leave old code, missing advertising outcomes or duplicate events. Migrate the purpose, conditions, destination, values and tests—not just a tag name.

Identify what remains

The YTM universal tag and advertising services’ site-wide tags are not interchangeable. Do not delete everything bearing a Yahoo! name. Compare the closure notice with the current setup requirements of each service you still use.

If the old interface is unavailable, use implementation records, website code and receiving-platform diagnostics. Do not guess an unknown destination when rebuilding a tag.

Check dependencies

Follow a controlled sequence

  1. Confirm which measurement is still needed and who owns it.
  2. Prepare the destination, container and access.
  3. Map the old business purpose to current tags, triggers and variables.
  4. Test normal and failure cases in a suitable environment or preview.
  5. Define cutover timing and the exact old-code removal scope.
  6. Publish the reviewed implementation and validate reception.

GTM is not the only possible replacement. A supported CMS integration, direct deployment or another management platform may fit the organization. Choose based on change frequency and maintenance responsibility.

Continuity and return attribution

A fired-tag message is not enough. Inspect events, values and counts at the destination. Matching the old total is not proof of correctness if the old implementation was wrong; use the intended business definition as the reference.

Retire old code deliberately

After validating the new implementation, identify the exact obsolete code and dependencies before removal. Long-term parallel operation makes duplication and unnecessary requests harder to understand.

Do not remove a still-required advertising tag merely because it was once associated with YTM. Record code location, purpose and change date.

Plan a workable rollback

Identify a known-good GTM version and any corresponding website changes. A rollback plan cannot assume the discontinued YTM service becomes available again. Migration also does not reconstruct historically missing data.

Completion means required measurement works, obsolete code and duplicates are addressed, and ownership is documented. Keep the migration date and affected reporting period so later trend changes can be interpreted honestly.

Keep marketing reporting consistent

Use consistent metric definitions and reporting periods when reviewing results. See NeX-Ray’s supported integrations and reporting features, or start for free.
